Residents of Enugu State have urged the State Government to urgently evacuate the flood water at the Ebeano Tunnel to avoid collapse of the tunnel.
Correspondent Onuora Aninwobodo reports that the tunnel, built during Governor Chimaroke Nnamani’s administration and commissioned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in June, 2006 has been overtaken by flood.
However the Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Godwin Ikpechukwu says the State Executive Council has approved that sign post should be erected in the area to warn motorists against the danger of plying the road after a rainy day.
Enugu is one of the states mentioned by NIMET that would be ravaged by flood.
NIMET called on the state and eigth others to advised residents living around water to quit the place during the rainy season.
